Q. Where do I find/download the app?

A. The Waitomo app is available for download in Google Play or the App Store.  If you can’t find it, head here.

Q. How does it work?

A. Just download the app and follow the instructions to register. We don’t need to know what you had for breakfast – just need your name, phone number and email. Agree to our terms and conditions, and verify your account – then you’re all set to enjoy the many features of our app.

Q. Do I have to link a payment card to use the app?

A. No – you can use some features of the app without needing to link a payment card. For example, if you’re gifted Waitomo Moolah, you can make in-app purchases without linking a card up to the value of your gifted Waitomo Moolah.  If you choose to link a card, you’ll be able to make other in-app purchases at Waitomo Fuel Stops, as well as purchasing and gifting Waitomo Moolah to your mates and whanau.

Q. Are my card details secure?

A. Your card details are held securely at our PCI-certified payment gateway.   We use secure tokenisation to link your card to the app.  Your full card number is never held within the app.

Q. How do I change my profile or card details?

A. You can update your details at any time. Simply head to the main menu, and update your profile in ‘My account’, or card details in 'Payment methods'. 

Q. I don’t want to use the app anymore. How do I remove it?

A. No worries. We pride ourselves on being easy to deal with. Simply delete the payment card linked, and then delete the app from your device.  If you would like us to remove your registered details from our database, just let us know by using the ‘Contact us’ in the 'Help' section of the app, emailing us at app@waitomogroup.co.nz or call us on 0800 922 123.

Making a purchase

Q. What’s an in-app payment?

A. Use the app at a Waitomo Fuel Stop to make a purchase. Payment can be processed from your Waitomo Moolah balance, a linked payment card or both.

Q. How do I make an in-app purchase?

Q. What’s my transaction history?

A. Head to the main menu of the app and select ‘Transaction history’. Here you’ll find all the transactions you’ve made using the app.

Q. I need a receipt. How do I get one?

A. No worries – we’ll automatically send you a receipt to your email address when your transaction is complete. We’ll use the email address you have provided in your ‘My account’ profile.  If you need to resend your email receipt, head to your 'Transaction history' and select the transaction you need.

Q. Where can I use the app for in-app purchases?

A. Our app can be used at all Waitomo Fuel Stops, but it’s not available at our Diesel Stops or Service Stations.  The easiest way to check whether in-app is available at one of our sites is head to the ‘Find a Waitomo’ section from the menu and pick your local site. The green ‘app payment’ flag indicates in-app payment is available at that site.

Q. Can I load more than one payment method?

A. You can pay for in-app purchases from your Waitomo Moolah balance and/or from a linked payment card.  You can link up to three payment cards at a time.

Q. What if I get a new mobile number?

A. No worries, head to 'My account' available in the main menu of the app.  Simply enter your new mobile number – you’ll then get a verification code sent to your new mobile number to confirm it’s yours.  Your Waitomo Moolah balance, and everything else linked to your profile (including your linked payment card), will be transferred to your new number and you’re good to go.

A. Every time you spend $20 or more in a single transaction using in-app payment at our Waitomo Fuel Stops, you’ll unlock our spinning wheel.  Give it your best spin for the chance to win a prize.

Q. What is SCRATCH to win?

A. When you spend $150, $300 and $450 in a calendar month using in-app payments at our Waitomo Fuel Stops, you’ll unlock our Waitomo scratchie card.  Scratch away for the chance to win a prize.

Q. How do I know when I qualify for SCRATCH to win?

A. Head to the home page on your app to view our speed dial image showing how far you’re off unlocking the SCRATCH to win. To qualify for a SCRATCH to win, you’ll need to spend $150, $300 and $450 in the calendar month using in-app payments.

Q. What happens at the end of each calendar month if I haven’t reached the SCRATCH to win qualifying balance?

A. Your in-app payment balance will reset every calendar month. To qualify for a SCRATCH to win, you’ll need to spend $150, $300 and $450 in the calendar month using in-app payments.

Q. What can I win by using the SPIN to win or SCRATCH to win features of the app?

A. Every time you SPIN or SCRATCH to win, you have the chance to some sweet as prizes, including Waitomo Moolah to spend on your next in-app purchase and vouchers for tickets, merchandise, events, experiences and more.

Q. How do I redeem Waitomo Moolah gifted to me?

A. You can redeem your Waitomo Moolah through in-app purchases at Waitomo Fuel Stops. Available Waitomo Moolah is auto-redeemed when you make an in-app purchase so you won’t ever lose it or forget to redeem it like other gift cards. You need to be a registered user of the Waitomo app to redeem Waitomo Moolah gifted to you.

Q. What is Waitomo Moolah?

A. There are two ways to receive Waitomo Moolah (dollars that can be spent on your next in-app purchase at a Waitomo Fuel Stop):

  1. As a koha or gift from a whanau or family member, when they purchase Waitomo Moolah for you as an e-gift card. You can purchase, gift and redeem these e-gift cards, all within the app.

  2. As a koha, reward or prize from Waitomo, when you make a purchase at a Waitomo Fuel Stop using the app.  See section 3 – Thanks from Waitomo.

All Waitomo Moolah earned or gifted to you and yet to be redeemed is shown in your Waitomo Moolah balance, which you’ll find at the top of the ‘Home’ menu in the app. Waitomo Moolah is auto-redeemed when you make an in-app purchase so you won’t ever lose it or forget to redeem it.

Q. How do I buy Waitomo Moolah to gift to whānau or friends?

A. Head to the main menu or click on the gift card tile from the home screen. Simply select the amount you’d like to gift and who you’d like to gift it to (select from your contacts in your phone or device), and then pay with your linked payment card. Waitomo Moolah can be gifted to any New Zealand mobile number.

Q. Do I need to link a payment card to make a purchase using my gifted Waitomo Moolah?

A. You don’t have to have a linked payment card to redeem Waitomo Moolah. However, if you chose to link a payment card, the Waitomo Moolah will be redeemed first and the remaining balance of your transaction and any future purchases will be charged to your linked payment card.

Q. When does my Waitomo Moolah expire?

A. Waitomo Moolah gifted in-app as koha will never expire, as long as you’ve used the app to make an in-app purchase at a Waitomo Fuel Stop within the last 12 months.

Waitomo Moolah gifted part of our wicked giveaways will have an expiration date at Waitomo's discretion.

Waitomo Moolah has one expiry date.  Any Waitomo Moolah earned is added to your balance and the existing expiration date.

Q. I gifted someone Waitomo Moolah - how will they know?

A. When you gift whanau or friends Waitomo Moolah, the lucky recipient will receive a notification via their device. If they already have the Waitomo app downloaded, then the gifted Moolah will appear in their Waitomo Moolah balance. If they don’t have the app yet, no worries. They’ll get a SMS notification with a link to download the app. As soon as they register, the Waitomo Moolah will appear in their Moolah balance.
