Waitomo Group become front of jersey sponsor of Waikato Farah Palmer Cup team.

Waikato Rugby is pleased to announce Waitomo Group as the new front of jersey sponsor of the Waikato Farah Palmer Cup team for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Waitomo Group became a supporter of Waikato Rugby in 2019, becoming the Union’s fuel of choice, the sponsor of National Provincial Championship teams reserve jackets and the Farah Palmer Cup sleeve sponsor.

Now in 2021, Waitomo Group have channeled their sponsorship into helping to develop the women’s game by becoming the main sponsor of both the Chiefs and Waikato women’s teams.

Director of Partnerships and Engagements for Waikato Rugby Union, David Fox, said “Waikato Rugby are very excited to continue our partnership with Waitomo Group and it is pleasing to have them more involved in the women’s game that is the fastest growing sport in New Zealand and Waikato is at the forefront of this movement.”

Waitomo Group Managing Director and Owner, Jimmy Ormsby said “From our first introduction to women’s rugby in 2019 through our support of the Waikato Rugby FPC team what really impressed us was the quality of the players involved, their hard mahi and what was being achieved on the smell of an oily rag – heaps less than the men’s game. That led to us throwing our weight behind development of a Super Rugby Aotearoa competition for women as sponsors of the Waitomo Chiefs Women’s team in their historic clash against the Blues.

“To be main sponsors of the Waikato Rugby FPC team for the next two seasons further cements Waitomo’s leadership and drive in development of the women’s game.
