Waitomo renews partnership commitments with Waikato Rugby

Date: 12 Mar 2024

Waikato Rugby is pleased to announce Waitomo Group has renewed their partnership commitments for a further two years.

Waitomo Group became a supporter of Waikato Rugby back in 2019, becoming the Union’s official fuel of choice, and the sponsor of National Provincial Championship teams reserve jackets and the Farah Palmer Cup sleeve sponsor.

In 2021, Waitomo Group channeled their partnership into helping to develop the women’s game by becoming the naming rights and front of jersey partner of the Waikato Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) team.

Now in 2024, Waitomo Group are committing even more to Waikato Rugby, not only continuing their support of the FPC team but also in actively helping to shape the pathways for our region’s female talent.

Waitomo Group: Group Manager – Customer Experience, Greta Shirley, said “Waitomo’s pumped to be supporting the inspiring mahi and mana of the Waikato Rugby FPC team for the upcoming seasons.

“Following on from our initial partnership, we asked to have some direct discussions with the players about what they really needed to thrive and excel in the game. That’s resulted in some huge gains for the women, in terms of kit, training on and off the field with support through our sponsorship contribution.”

“Together Waitomo and Waikato Rugby are leading the way in meaningful development of the women’s game, and we’re grateful to Carl, Hannah, and the rest of the Waikato Rugby management for being open to, and enabling, our direct involvement. Watch out because this team is pumped and ready to go!”

The renewal of this partnership reflects Waitomo Group’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the women’s game, by supporting Waikato Rugby from the grassroots level to the provincial game. Waikato Rugby Commercial Manager, Hannah Grainger, added “We are extremely proud and grateful for our partnership with Waitomo Group, as it continues to empower women and girls to feel valued and have a sense of belonging towards rugby.”

“Waitomo Group’s commitment to the development and excellence of our Waikato Women continues to raise the bar for women in rugby nationally.”

Waitomo Group: Waikato FPC senior player, Kennedy Simon, reinforced the special partnership Waitomo Group had created by stating “We are so proud to continue to be in partnership with Jimmy, Simon, Greta, and the team at Waitomo Group. Waitomo Group has provided us with so many opportunities that has allowed our union to offer great depth within our women’s game. We can’t wait for another season as the Waitomo Group: Waikato FPC team!”
